Introducing Substance Misuse Training

Substance misuse problems are a major source of anxiety at every level of society.  In 2005/06, 10.5% of adults had used one or more illicit drug in the last year. During 2005/06 181,390 people were in contact with structured drug treatment services*. Sometimes the stigma and fear associated with drugs use can make it hard to respond appropriately to the needs of the individual client.

This training provides healthcare practitioners with specialist advice and knowledge about substance misuse, so that they can provide an appropriate service to affected individuals. It is aimed at staff who do not have a specific substance misuse function, but who still need to achieve a good grounding in general drugs awareness because of contact with drug-using patients or other service users. The course content is customised to take account of delegates’ job functions, and the latest regional trends in drugs use.
